2024′ PF Nicolas Codie has Set his commitment date, with him coming off of a visit to Miami

Four-star power forward Nicolas Codie, has recently gave out his commitment date to where he will be playing college basketball at. The 6-foot-8, 200-pound Miami target will announce his college decision on November 2nd.

Codie will be choosing between his top seven schools — Auburn, Houston, LSU, Miami, TCU, Texas, and Virginia Tech.

He has just recently made a visit to Coral Gables this past weekend and I heard it went pretty well. He has visited each of his finalists, besides Auburn. He plans to visit the Tigers on October 26th.

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Codie is the No. 45 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle. He’s also the No. 7 power forward prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s evaluators are slightly higher on Codie, ranking him 34th nationally.

What is Codie looking for in a program?

“I’m looking for a program that is going to develop me as a player,” Nic Codie says. “I also want to go to a place that has a real family atmosphere. When I move away for college, that is going to be my family, so I have to make sure I feel good with them. When he said “home atmosphere”, and he wants a coach to develop him on the court and off, I insatiately though Jim Larranaga and the Miami Hurricanes, right?

I mean, Larranaga built this program up since he came here, he led people into the NBA such as the ACC Player Of The Year Isaiah Wong, and one of the best power forwards Miami has had in a while Jordan Miller, and there is also current players that been playing in the NBA such as one time NBA champion Bruce brown which won the NBA Finals this past year, and Lonnie Walker is also currently playing in the NBA and was averaging over 10 points per game over the past year with the Lakers.

Scouting Report

“The upside of Nic Codie is so intriguing. Standing in the 6-8 range with a reported 7-2 wingspan, you like the way he moves. This gives him upside on the defensive end, with the fluidity to slide his feet and the length to get in the passing lanes and rotate on the block. Offensively, he is crafty in the paint. He has a quick, off-cadence release from 15-feet and in and he is confident with a jump hook or floater with his right hand. While the ball skills are still raw and he will need to continue working on the balance and footwork, he shows the ability to step out and knock down a three. That potential spacing the jump shot would provide is a nice added bonus to his game. There is a lot to like here, and Codie is younger for his grade. His dad, Nakia Codie, played defensive back in the NFL.”
