247Sports Ranks Miami As One Of The Top Teams In The ACC

According to a article that 247Sports published the Miami Hurricanes basketball team is one of the top contenders in the ACC as they rank 3rd.

Miami might of lost six players either to the draft or the transfer portal, but Jim Larranaga has landed some dogs in the portal this offseason.

Miami Hurricanes picked up two commitments since the transfer portal opened up. Those to people was starting for Virginia Tech center Lynn Kidd and starting East Carolina forward Brandon Johnson.

Miami signed a top-15 recruiting class coming in this off-season, the Hurricanes signed 5-star SG Jalil Bethea which is already being slotted at being a top draft pick, the Hurricanes also got Isaiah Johnson-Arigu and Austin Swart

Here is what 247Sports writer Isaac Trotter had to say about Miami:

Projected starting lineup:

  • G Nijel Pack
  • G Jalil Bethea
  • Wing Matt Cleveland
  • F Brandon Johnson
  • C Lynn Kidd

Top bench options: G Jalen Blackmon, G Austin Swartz, F Kiree Huie, Wing Paul Djobet

The scoop: Miami’s lack of depth and lack of size were a problem. Jim Larranaga has done good work to fix some of those holes. Losing Norchad Omier to Baylor is gutting, but a frontcourt trio of Matt Cleveland, Brandon Johnson and Lynn Kidd can be highly productive. Nijel Pack is also back for his fifth season of college basketball. He is what he is now (and that’s a good thing). Five-star freshman Jalil Bethea has a huge runway to be a stud, especially after Wooga Poplar’s late decision to hit the transfer portal. Do not sleep on Stetson transfer Jalen Blackmon, either. That dude is a flamethrower. Miami still has three open scholarships to play around with, so this team has a chance to be so much more than a six-man band.
