3-star DB FSU commit Tedarius Hughes previews his cookout visit to Miami this weekend, ‘I want to see how the coaches interact with me and my family’

CanesToday caught up with 2026 three-star defensive back Tedarius Hughes thats committed to Florida State, before he goes to Coral Gables for the weekend to see the Hurricanes coaching staff for the annual cookout.

“I want to see how the coaches interact with me and my family.” Tedarius said.

Last season at South Dade High School, during his sophomore season he had a stout season with some great stats, Hughes recorded the following stats for his high school in his sophomore season last year. Solo: 5, TOT: 15, TCKL/G: 3.8, INT: 4, PD: 1, INT/G: 1.0

At 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds, Hughes is coming off a sophomore season where he played six games for the Buccaneers. According to MaxPreps, Hughes had 15 tackles and four interceptions in those games. He also had one pass breakup.

 Charlotte 49ers, FAU Owls, Louisville Cardinals, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Syracuse Orange, UCF Knights, UConn Huskies, and USF Bulls all have offered him just to name a few. The hometown Miami Hurricanes are likely to offer soon.
