3 Teams that will be Overhyped at ACC Media Days

CanesToday have been cooking up takes, preparing them to serve up to the masses at the unofficial start of Talking Season. Sometimes those takes are a little too overzealous. This year these three teams will generate buzz at ACC Media Days in Charlotte, but they don’t have enough bark to match the bite.

Here are three teams that will probably be overhype at the ACC Media Days.

Florida State

Pretty sure we saw this coming, a year ago the Florida State Seminoles had an outstanding season with going 12-0 in regular season and 13-0 after winning the conference championship however they were what Florida State fans like to say ‘snub’ because they did not make the CFB Playoffs.

However, Jordan Travis is gone and DJ Uiagalelei is in, they lost their probably best unit in my option in Trey Benson and lost tons of defensive lineman. Did they downgrade? Yes, do I think the media will hype them up? Yes of course.

The Seminoles don’t get much of a break when it comes to their schedule, but Mike Norvell has done a great job of reinforcing depth throughout the roster with the transfer portal. Florida State will have one of the best pass-rushing tandems in the ACC with Patrick Payton and Marvin Jones Jr. But I’m not buying it.

North Carolina

This North Carolina football team is either going to be infuriating or a beautiful disaster. There’s no in-between.

Carolina is always a team that will be the top of the ACC, however with NFL quarterback Drake May leaving to go to the pro I think the Tar Heels take a step back this season.

Mack Brown revamped his defensive staff with the hiring of Geoff Collins and good news for the Tar Heels is they’re not going to have to deal with too many explosive offenses next season. And that’s the biggest reason I think they will get overhyped this season at the Media Day.

Virginia Tech

This year there will be a parade down Broadway to crown the Hokies, led by Brent Pry.

Virginia Tech is being hyped up in the off-season this year with there win total being at 8.5, however they do got a easier schedule than most of the teams in the ACC.

Brent Pry promised he would turn things around in Blacksburg and took his first major step in 2023. That continues with what the Hokies have coming back on both sides of the football. The non-conference home game with Rutgers may be tricky, but after that, Miami and Clemson are the only serious threats to win the ACC standing in the way of Virginia Tech getting to the league’s championship game in December. There is reason to be optimistic about this slate if you’re a Hokies fan.
