4-Star Miami QB Target Dereon Coleman Sets Commitment Date, Family Talks About Miami

Miami’s quarterback recruiting efforts for 2026 are coming into focus in late June and early July with a priority target Dereon Coleman which is a four-star quarterback setting a decision date for July 3rd his dad told me Monday afternoon.

CanesToday caught up with his dad and this is what he had to say about the Hurricanes:

“We loved everything about the U” said Dereon Coleman’s dad.

Miami does have two commitments in the 2026 class with Jordan Campbell and Malachi Toney already being involved in the 2026 Miami class and after talking to his family and Dereon I do expect him to choose the Hurricanes once it comes decision time on July 3rd.

Dereon also talked with CanesToday and this is what he had to say after the Hurricanes offered him last week and his first impressions along with how he did at the camp last weekend.

“1st impression was finally!! The U is a brotherhood. Today I was feeling really good. I just got the ball to my playmakers. It was a good day as a unit. Shout out to our defense as well. They made some big steps to get us the ball back on offense. A great squad championship”. said Coleman.

Coleman is also being highly recruited by the Oklahoma Sooners, and the UCF Knights the most, he was a fan of the Sooner growing up and as of right now Miami has all the momentum going into his decision date.
