Alex Mirabal makes home visit with Nino Francavilla, talks recruitment with Miami

If you been keeping up with Miami football lately, the transfer portal just opened today, and Miami’s coaching staff is all around the country visiting the Miami Hurricanes commits in the 2024 class, Miami has just had a in home visit with Miami OT commit Nino Francavilla, to keep up with Miami Hurricanes recruits.

Francavilla is relatively unknown to most, but Miami got an opportunity to unearth a trench gem early in June when the offensive lineman decided while vacationing in Miami that he would check out Coral Gables and test himself at one of Miami’s linemen camps.

“After camp, coach [Mario] Cristobal and coach Mirabal took me into their office and just told me they were really interested. All their coaches seem really knowledgeable about all their positions. Guys like Francis [Mauigoa] and Samson [Okunlola] were giving pointers and were cool to be around. The facilities were great, and the weather was just gorgeous. I loved it.”

“Just being in Miami with that culture is the best of both worlds for me right now,” said Francavilla of his experience in Miami. “Combine with the beauty of the area and the weight of a degree from Miami, I just felt like it was the best fit.” – Nino Francavilla.

“Obviously, Coach Mirabal, he’s one of the best offensive line coaches in the country, if not the best offensive line coach, ”Just with the guys he’s put in the NFL and the guys he’s got to come to Miami. Working with him was really great. I learned a lot of technique stuff, which was great because most camps focus on conditioning you through running and stuff and this was based on getting you better as an offensive lineman which I really liked. Working with them, Samson [Okunlola] gave me good feedback because he was at the camp too. Coach Cristobal and Coach Mirabal, they were just very attentive to the stuff that I was messing up slightly or doing well and letting me know that and making that clear, which I really appreciated because in the long run it’s going to help me become a better offensive lineman. I really enjoyed the chance. Obviously the facilities are amazing.”

“Any time you get an offer to The U, you have to look at things differently no matter where you are in the recruiting game just because that’s a school that holds a certain precedent with football with all the great players that they’ve had,” Francavilla said. “It definitely is going to make me look at things a little differently. That’s something in more detail that I’ll have to go into with my parents and my family and I’ll talk to the coaches at Harvard.”
