BREAKING: Markel Bell, 3-star OT , Commits to Miami

Mario Cristobal and Miami have done what they can to retool the offensive line.

four-star offensive lineman Markel Bell, a verified 6-foot-8.5, 340-pounds, announced on Friday evening that he will finish his college career in Coral Gables over opportunities at Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Auburn amongst others. Alabama had been knocking on the door as well but have yet to offer. And he will be joining the 2024 class.

After bringing in a plethora of transfer portal pieces, along with some freshman in the 2022 class, the Hurricanes look prepared to move past whatever last season’s o-line was. So, Miami lands Markel Bell out of Cleveland, Ohio.

“I had mostly JUCO offers,” said Bell of his recruitment coming out of high school. “I had some HBCU offers. I just felt like I could do better than what I had. I felt like I was a ‘Power Five’ player.”

Bell, who’s originally from Cleveland, Mississippi, has just committed to Miami. With its many additions on the offensive line over the offseason, there’s not a defined depth chart and no one’s locked down a starting role.
