Breaking News: Miami Hurricanes new commit Daylen Russell breakdown

Miami Hurricanes get another verbal commit out of our home territory (Miami FL)

Daylen Russell is a three-star defensive end commit from Miami, Florida. He currently attends Columbus High School in Miami, which is where Class of 2024 commit TJ Capers so there can be a connection to signal him to the Canes. Capers is a verbal commit at the University Of Louisville as of right now. Russell and Capers attends at the same high school.

This past season, as a junior in high school, Russell recorded 40 solo tackles and 11 assisted tackles for a total of 51 tackles. He also recorded seven sacks, three forced fumbles, and three quarterback hurries. An impressive stat line for a junior who is the No. 132 overall prospect in the state of Florida, according to 247Sports.

For statistics’ sake, Daylen Russell and TJ Capers combined for 91 total tackles and 12 sacks last year. The two wreaked havoc last season for the Columbus Explorers and could continue the havoc if Capers commits to the Canes also.

Miami now has nine commitments in the 2024 class with four of them coming on the defensive side of the ball. Russell’s commitment moves the Canes to the 21st-ranked class in the country and sixth highest in the ACC.
