Cam Ward named to ACC preseason POY

Miami Hurricanes have proudly announced that quarterback Cam Ward has been selected as the 2024 ACC Preseason Player of the Year. Additionally, the team has secured five spots on the 2024 Preseason All-ACC Team, which was released on Thursday. This demonstrates the outstanding skill and talent of the Hurricanes’ players, and they are poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.

A former no-star recruit, Ward spent two seasons at Washington State after transferring in from Division II Incarnate Word. He started 25 games for the Cougars, throwing for more than 6,400 yards and 43 touchdowns while adding 11 more scores on the ground.

The West Columbia, appeared in 25 games and completed 644 of 983 passes (65.5%) for 6,968 passes, 48 touchdowns and 16 interceptions across two seasons. Ward will be one to watch for West Coast teams like USC, Oregon and Washington.

Last season, he completed 66.6% of his passes for 3,735 yards, 25 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also added eight scores on the ground.

In 13 games with FCS-Incarnate Word, he completed 384-of-590 (65.1%) passes for 4,648 yards with 47 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions in 2021.
