Cam Ward named to Maxwell Club Award Player of the Week after Week 1

It’s no surprise that Cam Ward has been officially honored as the Maxwell Club Player of the Week for Week 1.

Ward put on a dazzling display against the Gators, showcasing his talent by throwing for an impressive 385 yards and three touchdowns. Miami’s commanding 41-17 victory over the Gators in The Swamp solidified Ward’s outstanding performance.

The Maxwell Award, an annual honor bestowed upon the College Player of the Year since its inception in 1937, is named in tribute to Robert “Tiny” Maxwell. Maxwell, a former standout athlete at Swarthmore College and a distinguished sportswriter and football official, is the epitome of the award’s legacy.

Last year, Michael Penix, Jr. emerged as the annual recipient.
