Can Miami leap over Florida to steal Vernell Brown lll?
It is commitment day for four-star Jones high school, wide receiver Vernell Brown lll.
Miami has got Vernell on campus multiple times here at Coral Gables but will that be enough from him going to the Florida Gators? I don’t know however he did say “It comes down where I want to be” Which Miami just got a commitment from his high school quarterback Dereon Coleman which could make a factor.
Miami will be competing with Ohio State, Florida, and Florida State today once he commits.
Brown is one of the fastest players in the country as he also excels at track. On the gridiron, he racked up 70 catches for over 1,300 yards and 10 scores this past season. He also added three punt returns and one kick return for a touchdown. Brown is also featured on defense for Jones High School in Orlando, Florida.
According to 247Sports, he ranks as the No. 249 player in the country, No. 11 athlete, and No. 35 player in the state of Florida.

“Dynamic athlete with elite short-area quickness and explosive movement patterns. Has impacted the game in all three phases at the prep level and impressed at times as a defensive back, but ceiling appears to be highest as a slot receiver that can generate chunk plays with his run-after-catch capabilities. Eats on in-breaking routes as he creates separation by sinking his hips and then quickly driving towards soft spots in coverage. Likely never going to have a high success rate in true contested-catch situations given size, but plucks the football with confidence and doesn’t exactly shy away from contact. Projects as a potential game-breaker on Saturdays based on what he put on tape as a junior and the type of offensive weapon that playcallers can get creative with (screens, jet sweeps) given how he can make defenders miss both in tight quarters and the open field. Will add plenty of value as a return man.”
