Canes Today: Miami is brutally beaten

Another home game, another loss. Boston College came into Watsco Center and beat Miami exterior defense for points 40 points. Jim Larranaga had no answers, Miami’s offensive struggles were exposed, and now this program has dropped eight consecutive games.

The trend lines are not good for this basketball program. What people thought in the beginning of the season UM’s highly anticipated season has crumbled.

It’s gut-check time in Coral Gables.

There is a lot to recap after the program’s second consecutive loss to Boston College and Miami Spring Practice with the Canes baseball winning yesterday. Let’s dive in.

Miami offense is simply bad

The transition from a great defensive possession to an unforgivable mistake — especially for a experienced team — can be so quick at the highest level that its impact isn’t felt in real time.

Miami only gave up 67 points against the Eagles, but the Hurricanes offense in transition is absoulty pitfuland hard to watch you see Miami get a rebound and push the ball hoping to score for just losing the ball or turning it over.

A big factor was Miami missing simple shots we saw Miami taking baby shots in the paint and they were perfect opportunity to get back into the game after the Hurricanes fell back by 10 and we just miss the shots, then we saw Matthew Cleveland go coast to coast to just miss a layup, it is just the easy stuff man.

Miami ended up scoring 22/65 of their baskets 28 of those points were in the paint which is not all so bad but that mainly came from big man Norchad Omier.

Canes Baseball takes down the Skyhawks

The Hurricanes tallied six unanswered runs to down the Skyhawks, 7-6, Wednesday evening at Mark Light Field.

The Skyhawks (4-4) scored in each of the first five innings, but Walters, who made two appearances before having season-ending surgery a year ago, injected life into the Hurricanes (7-5).

Sparked by Walters’ triumphant return, Miami plated five runs in the bottom half, highlighted by sophomore designated hitter Blake Cyr’s three-run homer.

One inning later, freshman third baseman Daniel Cuvet completed the comeback.

Stonehill right-hander Peter Haas (0-3) was tagged with the loss.
