Miami Hurricanes depth chart projections for spring football: Offense

The Miami Hurricanes are a couple of days away from the start of spring football. The new roster features multiple new scholarship players from their 2024 class.

The first of 15 practices will be next Monday, March 4, and the 2024 Canes Spring Game is unofficially scheduled for April 15.

With all the changes incoming, now is a great time to take a look at what the depth chart could look like for the Hurricanes this spring.

Quarterback

1st string: Cam Ward, Senior. (Washington State transfer)

2nd string: Jacurri Brown, Sophomore

3rd string: , Reese Poffenbarger, Junior

Analysis: As we enter spring, and the whole offseason, it is expected that the QB1 job is going to be Ward. Cam Ward is an experienced transfer who will give Dawson a run for his money.

Running Back

1st string: Henry Parrish, Senior, Ajay Allen , Sophomore

2nd string: Chris Johnson, Sophomore, Jordan Lyle, Freshman

Analysis: The lead back is going to be Henry Parrish, there isn’t much to question about that, but the second string is where things heat up. Johnson will provide long yardage help, while Lyle is very new but he is just to flashy to not see the field. The wild card will be the progression Chris Wheatley-Humphrey has, and how his speed can change the game.

Wide Receiver

1st string: Xavier Restrepo, Isaiah Horton, Jacolby George

Analysis: There is a really good mix of experience and youth in the wide receiver room. I would expect all three of these guys get a good chunk of the snaps, while there is several freshman and sophomores that could push their way into the playing group. This is also a position that the Hurricanes may look to the portal for at the end of the spring window.

Tight End

1st string: Elijah Arroyo, Sophomore

2nd string: Cam McCormick, 9th year Senior

Analysis: A lot would happen determined about Arroyo is he back healthy, he looks like a top blocker, Arroyo showed a lot of signs of being a plus player. McCormick had some blocking problems near the end of the season so that is why I have him at a 2nd string, but I would also not sleep on Riley Williams.

Offensive Line

LT: Jalen Rivers

LG: Tommy Kinsler

C: Zach Carpenter

RG: Anez Cooper

RT: Francis Mauigoa

Analysis: The offensive line unit is going to be a huge unit if Miami is going to have success in 2024. The staff did a great job adding transfer Zach Carpenter, while retaining Rivers. The second unit has a lot of experience talented.
