ESPN names Miami’s SG Jalil Bethea to top-freshman to watch

The Miami Hurricanes summer practices are among us and we are only 100 days away from some college basketball here is where people start making predictions and assuming where teams will land by the preseason rankings. However, today ESPN posted an article stating “100 days to men’s college basketball, top stories, players, and games” as Jalil Bethea was named as a top freshman by the ESPN writer Myron Medcalf.

Here is what he wrote on the upcoming freshman:

Jim Larrañaga has historically given his guards freedom to put up big numbers in Coral Gables, and Bethea could be next in line. He’s a truly elite offensive player who can make shots from behind the arc, beat his defenders off the bounce and draw contact for easy points at the free-throw line. He should have some huge offensive games.

Bethea, who was named a McDonald’s All-American selection earlier this year, led Archbishop Wood to the Class 6A state tournament semifinals, averaging 23.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game through 27 contests.

Depending on how he does at Miami his draft stock could definitely rise.
