Film Room: Kiree Huie

Film Room: Kiree Huie

The Miami Hurricanes and coach Jim Larranaga landed a 6-foot-10 traditional big from Idaho State Kiree Huie.

Huie was on a visit to Miami this past weekend and it went super well which led to a commitment of Huie.

Huie is a 6-9, 220-pounds forward that averaged 11.3 points per game to go along with 5.8 rebounds.

He shot 53.6 percent from the field and 58.7 percent from the free-throw line. He had an offensive rating of 104.7 according to Kenpom.

Huie has one more of eligibility of his college career remaining

Huie started 32 of 34 games for Idaho State last season.

Previously before Huie played at Idaho State, he played in the junior college ranks for the Odessa College Wranglers and appeared in all of his 34 games, starting in 25 of them. He finished that year averaging 10.6 points on 60.8% shooting from the field, with 5.9 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 20.6 minutes per game as the Wranglers finished the season with a 30-4 overall record and 15-1 conference record

As always we work hard in the CT film room so lets get into this breakdown:

Film Room

Off bat he is great with the left hand (lefty) but he does have a suspect right hand, but he is a great offensive player with the left hand.

he does struggle with some pick and roll actions which Miami loves to do.

I would not expect him to start at Miami but he is a very solid reserve player if Matthew Cleveland or Brandon Johnson went down or needed a break.

He is not a elite rebounder despite being 6-10.

I do like this long lengthy small forward pick up for size and depth to the team, hopefully we can see him out their on the floor at the Watsco Center when its his time.

Here is a film video breakdown if you need more:
