Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes took care of business’, as they should against an FCS school, there were sloppy mental mistakes, but Miami still defeated Bethune Cookman 48-to-7.

Van Dyke threw touchdown passes to Jacolby George and Brashard Smith after a 10-yard touchdown began the rout. He completed 19 of 23 passes for 247 yards in the first half before being pulled with a 34-0 lead.

The Hurricanes (3-0) also got two touchdowns from Ajay Allen and one each from Don Chaney Jr. and Chris Johnson.

Emory Williams entered for Van Dyke to begin the second half.

Miami built their 34-point halftime lead behind 415 yards to just 36 for the Wildcats (1-2).

Emory Williams displayed the ability to run Shannon Dawson’s offense effectively and efficiently, finishing 9-11 for 102 yards on the evening.

In his first drive of the night, Williams made an impressive throw in a tight window to wide receiver Brashard Smith on the deep right side of the field. That 22-yard gain set up a touchdown for the Hurricanes. Earlier in the drive, he moved off of his first read to find Colbie Young for a 16-yard gain and delivered a strike on a third and long, which gave Miami a chance to move the sticks.

Next up: the Hurricanes play at Temple on Saturday, September 23 at 3:30 pm ET.
