FINAL: Miami downs TCNJ 111-54 in exhibition

On Sunday afternoon at Watsco Center, No. 13 Miami men’s basketball finally played against someone other than themselves. The opponent? TCNJ of the NJAC. Miami had some questionable passes, that led to a lot of turnovers, especially on the fast break.

But as these exhibitions usually go, the better and more talented team ultimately came away with the victory. Miami wound up winning by a final score of 111-54, outscoring TCNJ by 57 points in the second half. The Hurricanes will now play on Monday, Nov. 6 against NJIT that will be an actual season game to start the 2023-24 season.

Miami finished the night shooting 48.6 percent from the floor, 36.4 percent from distance, and 80 percent from the free throw line. The ‘Canes outrebounded TCNJ by 14 and finished with six fewer turnovers.

The veterans led the way for Miami against TCNJ. Norchad Omier was the team’s leading scorer with 23 points to go along with 12 rebounds, and two assists. He was aided by Nwoko, who chipped in 16 points on 6-9 shooting. Pack was next up in scoring with 13 points and seven assists.

The first half was pretty for the Hurricanes. Miami shot 56.8 percent from the field and connected on just 7-16 three-point attempts. Miami did have more turnovers than TCNJ with Miami having six first-half turnovers. A positive I can pull from the first half was Miami’s rebounding in the first half, Miami outrebounded TCNJ 30-to-13.

Miami began to pull away once they tipoff in the second half. Miami will host NJIT for there season opener game Nov. 6th on ACCN
