Four of the biggest booms of the Miami Class of 2025 so far

June along with July was chocked full of commitments for the Miami Hurricanes on the recruiting trail, with several new commits coming aboard over, but there have been plenty of awe-inspiring additions throughout the cycle that have defined it to this point.

Today, we’re looking back on four of the biggest booms of the class that could really light the sky up further when it comes to the Canes in 2025.

Elijah Melendez

Call me crazy, but I think Melendez tends to get overlooked in this class a bit by those pining for defensive help. The 6-foot-2 and 220-pound linebacker currently attends Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola, but came to Florida from Colorado. A running back at one point, his body continues to develop and Melendez now plays and excels at linebacker. Melendez is the No. 23 linebacker and 189th overall prospect in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Gavin Nix

Gavin Nix was a huge and big time add to the class,

Gavin Nix is a four-star linebacker and is rated as the No. 160 player in the class and also he is the No. 21 player as a linebacker and the No. 22 player in the Sunshine State. After playing his freshman season at Orlando (Fla.) Lake Highland, Nix transferred to IMG as a sophomore. He’s 6-1 and is listed anywhere from 215 to 226. Nix is already well built for such a young player, and he plays with impressive power for such a young athlete. He lacks great height, but his length is impressive, his downhill burst stands out and his change of direction stands out on film. He has the potential to be an impact run defender up the middle thanks to his physical tools and ability to make clean reads, which stands out for his age. Nix has potential as a pass rusher and he has plenty of experience in coverage.

Hylton Stubbs

The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder is the No. 49 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, he also ranks as the nation’s No. 4 safety and No. 6 recruit in Florida. He just recently took a visit to Miami this past weekend and that could have led to his decommitment, as he said the Hurricanes really did impress him. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder got his most in-depth look at what the Hurricanes. Stubbs helped his high school Mandarin each Florida’s 4M title game where he recorded 97 tackles (8.5 TFL), 6 Interceptions, 6 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, 3 fumbles recovered and 2.5 sacks. The four-star also totaled 84 tackles and 2 interceptions in 2022.

Seuseu Alofaitiul

Alex Mirabal was taking the lead in his recruitment for the Hurricanes and let’s just say this was a great pickup for the Hurricanes. Alofaituli ranks as the No. 2 interior offensive lineman and No. 36 overall prospect in 247Sports’ rankings for the 2025 class. He’s also listed as the No. 1 player from Nevada. Alofaituli, who has a little belly on him yet a strong lower trunk, has been making the rounds of the various football camps, notably the UA Next Future 50 in June. Physically, he resembles Fautanu at a younger age.

Amari Wallace

The 5-foot-10, 172-pounder safety took a visit to Miami and shortly after he named his pledge to Miami. Wallace was also just at the Miami’s 7v7 camp this past weekend were he played with Miami Central. Wallace is a four-star safety from Miami, Florida, ranking at No. 45 overall, according to 247Sports, and is ranked at No. 7 for safeties across the nation Wallace is a player who Miami continued to be on his radar after becoming well known by his sophomore season. He is on the smaller size as a cornerback so he does need add more size if he sticks with Miami and plays in the ACC.

Trinton Breeze

Trinton is the owner of CanesToday. He writes for all sports, with a focus on football and recruiting, he is a freshman in high school and wants to graduate from the University of Miami
