Former Wisconsin running back Jonathon Taylor had some high praise for Miami Hurricanes running back Damien Martinez in a workout they had together in the offseason.

“Big Dam! Big Dam! When he first got there I mean he looked kinda big like cause I’m a big back, like dang you in college and he said yea.” said Taylor “We did this one drill it was like the first week he got there and it was basically like a movement drill, it was like a movement drill to like where you have a cone in the center and you got five cones around you and you kinda got to flip your hips between each cone and come back to the center.” “I go I am trying to get it and I’m trying to make sure I’m fluent then I’m waiting cause’ I’m bout to watch him go and I’m like man he’s kinda big similar to like Frank like probably he’s stiff. Listen, he started doing that drill I’m like he moving way better than I thought for his size’ I’m like he just got down here so like it might be over for the ACC” said Taylor.

Martines had an amazing true freshman season where he ran for 982 yards and seven touchdowns. He then took it up another notch last season as a sophomore, running for 1,185 yards and nine touchdowns. Those 1,185 yards was enough for 24th best in the country. He was also involved in the passing game, catching 11 passes for an additional 126 yards.

An impressive sophomore campaign came after his freshman year of 982 yards and seven touchdowns. Despite not being the most sought-after recruit coming out of high school, Martinez hit the ground running and had been a productive player for Oregon State for two seasons.
