Mario Cristobal says Mark Fletcher and Akheem Mesidor will be back by fall camp

Mario Cristobal answered many many questions when he announced to InsideTheU that running back Mark Fletcher and defensive end Akheem Mesidor will be back for fall camp.

Her is what Mario Cristobal had to say about it:

“Mark Fletcher is running on land and he is going to be good to go for practice one and game one,” Cristobal said. “When we start practice, it will be his first time playing in a while so we might have a return to play process for him that goes with all that, but he is going to be cleared to play and more importantly he is going to be ready to play.

Fletcher, who rushed for 514 yards this season, has been named by PFF one of the best freshman RBs in college football.

Fletcher was heavily utilized by the Hurricanes in the final stretch of the season after seeing limited opportunities in the beginning.

Fletcher also shows great potential in the passing game.

Fletcher’s 83.9 overall PFF grade was the highest among Miami’s running back room. He also led Miami’s backfield with an 84.9 rushing grade and led his position group with seven catches for 62 yards.

Fletcher suffered a foot injury during the Pinstripe Bowl against Rutgers and now is set for a return this fall.

More on Mesidor he is a (6-3, 275) defensive lineman that has not played since sustaining an injury against Texas A&M in week two last year.

He will technically have two more years of college eligibility remaining.

The veteran defensive lineman has played 45 defensive snaps in 2023, totaling five tackles and one sack. He has generated one pressure this season.

Akheem Mesidor was a three-star recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He started his career at West Virginia before transferring to Miami ahead of the 2022 season. That was a very productive season for Mesidor. In just 11 games, he matched his career high in tackles with 38. He also set career highs in tackles for loss and sacks, with 10.5 and 7.0 respectively.
