Miami Defeats Notre Dame At South Bend 73-61

The Miami Hurricanes picked up a 73-61 win over Notre Dame (although it wasn’t exactly pretty), but Wednesday night at South Bend was all about Norchad Omier.

Wow, what a dominant game from that man Norchad Omier. Omier finished with 33 points which is his season high this year, he also recorded a double double with grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with 3 steals, behind Omier was freshman toward Kyshawn George with (11), Nijel Pack with (10) and Bensley Joseph also getting (10) points, with Wooga Poplar rounding it out with 7 points.

As a team, Miami shot a combined 49.0 percent from the field despite a sloppy second half. The ‘Canes continue to turned the ball over 15 times against the Irish defense tonight. The Irish finished just 37 percent from the floor and a poor 10-34 from long range.

We also saw Matthew Cleveland go down with a injury on a fast break in the first half, they have not said what it was he racked up two points in the half.

At the half Miami were shooting 50% from the field, 27% from three and 67% at the line while the Irish are hitting 29% of their attempts and 25 from beyond the arc. Individually, Norchad Omier leads the way with 20 points, followed by Nijel Pack with seven and Wooga Poplar at four. Kyshawn George has added four points and 2 assist.

Omier opened the scoring with a 3 and hit another for a 21-16 lead.

Omier then flushed home dunks on three consecutive possessions for a 32-26 advantage.

Notre Dame leading scorer was Markus Burton with him having 15points.

The Hurricanes return back home after a two hard fought away games, the Canes willhost the (12-7) Pittsburgh Panthers on Jan, 27.
