Miami Football: Five-star David Stone announces commitment date

The date is officially set. The most heralded recruit in years out of the state of Oklahoma will decide his college of choice on August 26. The decision will air on ESPN.

Five-star defensive lineman David Stone will decide on August 26, according to a graphic released by On3’s Hayes Fawcett and retweeted by Stone.

In a recruitment that many will talk about for quite some time, no matter where he goes, Stone will finally bring clarity to multiple coaching staffs nationwide.

Along with Miami, Stone’s final six also includes the Oklahoma Sooners, Texas A&M Aggies, Florida Gators, Oregon Ducks, and Michigan State Spartans.

On3 RPM currently favors Oklahoma heavily, giving them a 79.1% chance to land him. In second is Michigan State at 15.4% with Miami and the Gators battling for the third spot.

David has taken couple visits to Miami in the past including an official visit the weekend of June 9th. But the Sooners and Spartans have both seen him more often, meaning Miami needs to step up if they’re serious about Stone.

There’s no reason that the Hurricanes can’t ramp up their efforts and become a top contender for Stone. Securing his commitment as a top-10 player in the country would launch this class to another level, and prove that the Hurricanes are well on their way back to the top.
