Miami Football Makes Top Group For 4-Star, Top 100 Prospect

The Hurricanes are in the hunt for one of the top defensive backs in the 2025 class

Miami football has already landed one recruit from Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy in four-star linebacker Gavin Nix.

The Hurricanes are in the hunt for more high-caliber players from the powerhouse program as well, including four-star safety Zechariah Fort, who narrowed his list of suitors to 13 schools on Friday. Miami has stiff competition in this recruiting battle, as Fort also included Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama, Florida State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Michigan, Tennessee, Florida, Nebraska, Washington and UCLA in his top group.

The 5-foot-10 running back was limited to four games as a sophomore for IMG. He finished that campaign with 14 total tackles. That is coming off of a Freshman All-American selection in 2022 after collecting 17 total tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack for the Ascenders. For the first time ever in IMG Academy history, a freshman was named a team captain.

According to 247Sports’ Composite rankings, Fort is considered the No. 84 overall prospect, No. 7 safety and No. 11 player in the state of Florida for the 2025 recruiting class.
