Miami Hurricanes Football: Hurricanes safety named AP Preseason All-American first Team

The start of a new college football season kicks off this weekend with the start of the Week 0 schedule. Miami Hurricanes will get their season started in Week 1 and will do so with one player that been named for the AP preseason All-American players.

Miami Hurricanes safety Karmen Kinchens was named first-team preseason All-Americans by the AP on Monday.

He is paired with former-five-star recruit James Williams, Kinchens gives the Hurricanes one of the more talented safety tandems in the country Miami limped to a 5-7 finish in Mario Cristobal’s first season as coach, but Kinchens was a star.

Kinchens returns to Miami Hurricanes football program for his third year as a starter, last season Kitchens racked up the 2022 season with 59 tackles and led the ACC with six interceptions. After some inconsistent play in the first half of the 2022 season, Kinchens took his play to another level in the second half of the year. His best game was against Georgia Tech as he totaled eight tackles and three interceptions—returning one pick 99 yards for a touchdown. The next week, Kinchens totaled 13 tackles against Clemson.
