Miami Hurricanes News: 2024 four-star S Zaquan Patterson is highly considering the Hurricanes.

A top target for the Miami Hurricanes included them on his top-five list back in April – 2024 four-star safety Zaquan Patterson

When Mario Cristobal took over to be the head coach for the Miami Hurricanes, those in the recruiting media knew he’d bring top talent to Coral Gables.

Patterson was offered by Miami all the way back in 2022. He visited Coral Gables back in late spring which he also came with four-star wide receiver Miami Hurricanes commit Chance Robinson.

Chaminade-Madonna Prep, Patterson’s high school, went 13-1 last year and won the Florida 1M state title. He racked up 69 tackles, seven pass breakups, two interceptions and blocked four punts.

The Hurricanes already have two safeties locked in with their 2024 class – two out of state three stars Dylan Day an Isaiah Thomas – but they seem open to taking another one if they’re a good enough prospect. Patterson seems like a recruit worth taking,

Patterson is ranked No. 73 overall, No. 5 at safety and No. 23 in the state of Florida in the 2023 class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

Safety is a position of need for the Miami football program. Miami lost eight defensive backs after the 2022 season. Starting Kam Kinchens and James Williams are entering their junior seasons and will be eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft. Linebacker Kam Spencer who signed with Miami in the 2023 class is expected to move to the safety position.

Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy cornerback Ksani Jiles was the first commitment in Miami’s 2026 recruiting class.

Jiles, who is currently an unranked prospect, also holds offers from LSU, Ole Miss and USC, among others. He is currently listed at 5 foot 11 and a half and 175 pounds.

Considering Miami is in play for many of the Ascenders’ athletes, gaining Jiles’ commitment is a chess move by Mario Cristobal and his coaching staff. Miami has steadily been building a pipeline from IMG to Coral Gables and Jiles is only the latest to choose the Canes.
