Miami Hurricanes News: four-star defensive lineman Artavius Jones  has committed to Miami

Miami Hurricanes has now got 18 commits in the 2024 recruiting class the newsiest addition to the class is four-star defensive lineman Artavius Jones.

Jones is a 6-foot-4, 285-pound, four-star defensive lineman from Blountstown, Florida, where he plays for Blountstown High School. The Blountstown Tigers finished the 2022 season 9-5 with a loss to Hawthorne in the Class 1 Rural state semifinals.

The On3 composite rankings list Jones as the 165th prospect, 20th defensive lineman and the 26th recruit in Florida in the 2024 class. Three-star Daylen Russell is the only player on the defensive front committed to the Miami football program in the 2024 class. Defensive lineman coach Jason Taylor is the primary recruiter for Jones.

Jones had 58 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, a pass breakup, one interception, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. On offense, Jones added eight receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown. Jones also averaged 10.6 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game for the Blountstown, Florida basketball team.

“It was probably the best visit I’ve been on to be honest,” Jones told InsideTheU following his official visit. “I love 305. My family is down here and kind of gives them an advantage. I just love it down here. I don’t know. It was just the bonding with the coaches. I love coach, like a lot. Both have good stats, came from the NFL. Some played ten years plus. Jason Taylor is a good person, [Joe Salave’a] is a good person. You would be stupid if you didn’t come here.”
