Miami Hurricanes News: Miami Hurricanes trying to make ground on 4-star DL Kamarion Franklin

Kamarion Franklin is a five-star defensive lineman from Lake Cormorant, Mississippi. He is a top 30 overall player, top ten defensive lineman, and the second-best player in Mississippi in the class of 2024.

The big-time prospect is currently sought after by many top football programs, including Miami, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida State, and Ole Miss. Franklin had an incredible junior season at Lake Cormorant High School. He finished with 73 total tackles, 22 tackles for a loss, 48 quarterback pressures, and 17 sacks. He now owns his high school’s record for sacks in a season

Franklin is about 6-feet-5-inches tall. He is very lengthy for a defensive lineman. He also weighs in at 265 pounds. This makes him a great size to be successful at the division one college football level. Franklin is also very fast for his size. He moves quickly off snaps, whether hitting an inside gap or coming off the edge. And it usually does not go smoothly for opposing offensive backfields with a 265-pound athletic lineman coming after you.

This speed also carries over into one-on-one moves with opposing offensive linemen as he uses agile footwork to maneuver around them. This will help him in the future as it did his past junior season with getting high sack totals. He also shows signs of great lateral speed to combat outside runs, running back screens, and scrambles by quarterbacks. If the Canes end up getting Franklin, they are getting a freakishly quick, athletic, and powerful defensive player that can really set the tone at the line of scrimmage during any game. Franklin has another Coral Gables visit coming up on June 2nd.

When franklin went on a visit previously back in march he said this about Mario Cristobal and the university “It’s a really good school. I love the atmosphere, the environment when I went there recently. I love the people, like coach (Mario) Cristobal. I have a good relationship with the whole coaching staff, like Jason Taylor, and the players — just everybody. I’m excited to go back and see more of what they have to offer to me.” Check Out His Hudl Tape Right Here
