Miami is pursuing a standout four-star safety from the hometown state

Miami is after a four-star safety Zaquan Patterson from Hollywood, Florida.

Patterson stands 6 feet and weights 185 pounds. He is ranked as the No. 4 safety and 74th overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. He is also considering Ohio State, Auburn, Florida State, and Michigan

Patterson was offered by Miami all the way back in 2022. He visited Coral Gables back in late spring which he also came with four-star wide receiver Miami Hurricanes commit Chance Robinson. But has not been on a visit since then. His latest visit was back in middle of June with Florida State. The Seminoles are trying to make up ground with his recruitment and try to make this a battle.

Chaminade-Madonna Prep, Patterson’s high school, went 13-1 last year and won the Florida 1M state title. He racked up 69 tackles, seven pass breakups, two interceptions and blocked four punts.

The Hurricanes already have two safeties locked in with their 2024 class – two out of state three stars Dylan Day an Isaiah Thomas – but they seem open to taking another one if they’re a good enough prospect. Patterson seems like a recruit worth taking,

Safety is a position of need for the Miami football program. Miami lost eight defensive backs after the 2022 season. Starting Kam Kinchens and James Williams are entering their junior seasons and will be eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft. Linebacker Kam Spencer who signed with Miami in the 2023 class is expected to move to the safety position. if Miami wins this recruiting battle with Patterson, he will be the third safety to commit in the 2024 class.

” I chose schools that were not only a good fit for me and my play style, but also that were constantly reaching out, showing interst, and more importantly, I was looking for a school that I believe can build me as a man as well as a player,” said Patterson on how he broke down his options.
