Miami LB commit Elijah Melendez details his Miami’s cookout visit ‘it felt like a dream’

The Miami Hurricanes just hosted their annual cookout for the Miami Hurricanes prospects and one of Miami’s 2025 linebacker commit Elijah Melendez was in attendance he really enjoyed it.

“It was amazing,” said Elijah, “It felt like a dream life when I was there with the weather and the vibe and the people,” said Melendez.

He also told me “In locked in”. This means he is focused on the Hurricanes and this was great to hear he told me that about a month ago once he took his official visit.

Melendez is the No. 23 linebacker and 189th overall prospect in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. And on the Rivals rankings he’s rated as the 2nd best linebacker in the country.

The 6-foot-2 and 220-pound linebacker currently attends Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola, but came to Florida from Colorado. A running back at one point, his body continues to develop and Melendez now plays and excels at linebacker.

At his high school at Osceola, he racked up a total of 7 tackles (1 TFL) and 26 rushing yards in the loss. However he broke foot in Week 1 of his junior season and missed the remainder of the year.
