Miami portal target Elijah Saunders commits to Virginia

The recruiting momentum coming out of the weekend has hit a slight speed bump, one of Jim Larranaga’s guard targets turning down Miami in favor of another ACC school.

Former San Diego State guard Elijah Sanders has committed to Virginia, he told On3’s Joe Tipton on Monday.

His numbers echoed that. He averaged 6.0 points while shooting 40.4 percent overall and 29 percent on 3s as a starter, and 6.4 points in four fewer minutes while shooting 44.0 and 35.6 percent in 16 games off the bench.

Saunders, who has two years of eligibility remaining.

Where does Miami turn now? Lynn Kidd, Brandon Johnson and Jalen Blackmon are signed on for next season while Texas forward transfer Dillion Mitchell wrapped up his visit at Miami last week but their has been no news on him yet.

Time to see what else this Miami staff has up its sleeve.
