Miami target at corner locks in commitment date, reveals finalists

Miami is in the top three schools for cornerback target Teddy Foster Jr.

Sarasota ( Fla. ) Cardinal Mooney 2024 cornerback Teddy Foster Jr. announced a top three of Miami, Florida and North Carolina Thursday afternoon, narrowing his 21-school recruitment down to a trio of contenders for his commitment. He has not officially visit Miami yet, but has visited Florida ( June 16 ) and North Carolina ( June 9 )

Foster is ranked No. 741 overall and No. 67 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at No. 690 and 68, respectively. The Gators currently hold two crystal ball predictions from 247Sports while On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Florida a 97.7% chance of signing him. So Miami don’t have great odds to get a commitment from him. Now Miami does need to get two or maybe only one more cornerback commit at this cornerback position. As of right now Miami only got one commit at the cornerback spot and that is three-star corner Romanas Frederique Jr. out of ( Fort Lauderdale, FL ).

Foster’s best attribute is his ability to find the football wherever he is on the field. Does he have the speed and flash that some of the higher-rated corners have? Maybe not. But he puts himself in position to make a play on the ball every snap and is very good at getting up to the point of the catch and snatching it out of the air.

The 6-foot-2, 170 pounds was a dawg as a junior last fall, Foster played both ways as a receiver and a defensive back. He was credited with 38 tackles, 9 pass breakups, and 2 interceptions on defense while bringing in 17 receptions for 242 yards and three scores on offense. He posted 26 tackles, 6 pass breakups, and a forced fumble as a sophomore during the 2021 campaign.

So is Foster a jump-off-the-page guy who will make headlines when he commits? No. But his raw talent and potential are something that could pair very well with Jahmile Addae. Hopefully, the Hurricanes are able to get him, but it will take a miracle if we can pull him away from the Florida’s coaching staff. ( He will commit tomorrow at 7pm on Instagram ).
