Miami Transfer SG Wooga Poplar Has Committed To Villanova

After spending three years at Miami, Wooga Poplar has fount a new home at Villanova.

Poplar is from Philadelphia and while Villanova has not been at the top of their game the past two seasons under new coach Kyle Neptune, a chance to play near his hometown and for a historic brand – and in the highly competitive Big East – will at least draw consideration for the rising senior guard.

Wooga Poplar embarked on his college basketball career in September 2021, debuting against Canisius. He demonstrated his potential throughout the season, averaging 2.3 points and 1.4 rebounds in 8.6 minutes per game across 37 appearances, starting in 34. His standout performance included a season-high 12 points in 18 minutes against Florida Atlantic on November 16, 2021. Unfortunately, his NCAA Tournament journey in 2023 was halted by a tailbone injury.

This past season, The Philadelphia native started all 29 games he played in last season, averaging 13.1 points per game.

Wooga is an off-ball guard with good size and athleticism, he’s very bouncy and makes some flashy plays with what he’s able to do physically. Not only does he have the tools, but Poplar is also incredibly skilled. He can space the floor with his reliable 3-point shot, handle the ball and even create for himself and others. Offensively, he’s well-rounded and a real catalyst on that end.

Best of luck to Wooga.
