Panthers make a statement at MSG, Cats shuts out Rangers 3-0

What a defensive show by Bobroskvy and due to his great goaltending the Panthers fount themselves winning game one against the Rangers 3-0.

Today was a matchup of division champions for a spot in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Atlantic-winning Florida Panthers vs the Metropolitan-wining New York Rangers.

The Panthers were looking to go back to the finals and today was one step closer to that with them downing the Rangers 3-0.

First Period

The game started out very defensive for both the Rangers and the Florida Panthers.

The Cats had a few good looks thru the first ten minutes but the score remained 0-0.

The Panthers went on their first power play of the season at 9:34 in the first Jacob Trouba went to the box for hooking to send the Cats on their power play, but the Rangers ended up killing it.

The Panthers would strike first with Matthew Tkachuk finding the goal at 3:25 left in the first period with him scoring on a wrist shot and the puck beat Igor Shesterkin clean.

At the end of the first the score was 1-0 with the Panthers having a advantage going into the second.

Second Period

Bobroskvy had some amazing saves in the first five minutes in the 2nd period with him stopping two one on ones from the Rangers.

At 12:17 the Panthers would go back onto the power play with the Rangers being called for high sticking, but the Panthers would not capitalise on the power play.

Panthers don’t give up a lot of great shots but when they do they are Grade A chances. The Rangers only had 12 shots on goal at the end of the second period.

It was yet another real quite period but the Panthers still had a one score advantage heading into the next period.

Third Period

Third period started out with the Rangers going on the power play which came late form the 2nd period but they could not get nothing with Bobroskvy stopping serval shots on goal.

The Panthers would go up 2-0 at Madison Square Garden with Oliver Ekman-Larsson finding the goal at 11:15 left in the 3rd however, the Bruins wanted to challenge for goaltender interfence and they got the call to make the game go back at 1-0.

Carter Verhaeghe would score with 3:45 left in the third period after a misplay by Igor and Lafreniere putting it in his own goal.

The Rangers goal was empty and for that the Panthers scored another goal this one by Sam Bennett to ice the game at 3-0.

After that goal the Panthers fans and the team really could feel the win at MSG and the Cats would be taking a 3-0 win against the Rangers.

Sergei Bobroskvy stopped 23 of the 23 shots that came his way tonight against the Rangers.
