Rueben Bain continues to improve each week

Miami Hurricanes ‘true freshman’ Rueben Bain has been one of the most hyped-up freshmen in the off-season. And boy oh boy let me tell you he’s living up to it.

Rueben Bain has been exceptional with 7.5 TFLs and leads Miami with 6.5 sacks. Bain has started the last six games.

In the Virginia game, Bain finished with 7 total tackles, 2.5 TFLs, 2 sacks, and a pass defended. His second sack ended Virginia’s hope of winning the game in regulation. That’s 4 sacks in the past two games.

Through the first seven games of the 2023 season, Bain has emerged as the best player on the Miami defense because of his ability to pressure quarterbacks and be solid against the run as well.

At 6-feet-3 and 275 pounds, Bain plays with a unique blend of power, pass rushing technique, awareness, and an elite motor. Bain has improved as the season has progressed with his best performance coming on Saturday night against Clemson.

In the Clemson game, the official stats credited Bain with eight tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks, and one forced fumble. According to the advanced stats provided by Pro Football Focus, Bain also generated ten quarterback pressures in the game, along with two hits on quarterback Cade Klubnik.
