The Washington Wizards are one of USA Today’s NBA Draft winners after picking Kyshawn George

The Washington Wizard were one of USA Today’s biggest winners in the NBA Draft after Miami’s Kyshawn George slid to them at No. 24 overall in the first round.

Washington started the night with two first-round picks — No. 2 and No. 26. But an aggressive front office, led by president Michael Winger and general manager Will Dawkins, made a trade with Portland to get another lottery pick at No. 14. The Wizards selected Alex Sarr second, Carlton “Bub” Carrington 14th and Miami’s Kyshawn George at No. 24 after a minor trade with the New York Knicks. Now, the Wizards need those picks to work, but it’s clear the Wizards spent considerable time investing in this draft as part of the franchie’s major rebuilding effort.

Washington saw an immediate hole in their roster they needed to fill and they were able to do so by drafting Kyshawn and not having to overspend in free agency.

Kyshawn always makes the right play at the right time when he played for Miami, he also took care of the ball well. He’s starting to figure out how to leverage his size in mismatches on both ends of the floor.

He ended up averaging 7.6 points per game to go along with 3.0 rebound and 2.2 assist per game, he also had a career high against Wake Forest with 21 points.

Best of luck to Kyshawn in the NBA.
