There’s no doubt the Miami Hurricanes have heart.

The ‘Canes fought hard for four quarters on Saturday against the Boston college Eagles in a matchup that looked winnable throughout, and we sure did that with a 45-20 victory over the Eagles.

Miami is now 7-5 (3-5) to end the ACC play.

Let’s get into these takeaways why don’t we right.

Takeaways

  1. Xavier Restrepo: The Miami Hurricane’s number one wide receiver went off today against the Eagles, Restrepo hauled in 6 receptions for 117 yards. He was sure handed, got down the field, and made plays after the catch. It was an impressive all-around performance for #7. Restrepo is likely to be an All-ACC receiver this season. Well deserved.
  2. Playbook: I said it last week and I’m going to say it again, I loved how Shannon Dawson opened the play book against the Louisville’s & Boston College defense’s, even though it was not enough to beat the Cards, I still loved how we opened up the playbook against them and the Eagles, which it was enough to beat the Eagles. Miami lacked on offense mainly this whole year dealing with some injuries, and just overall it was bad, Dawson came out the gate slinging the ball trusting Tyler Van Dyke, and the offense and Van Dyke did show the spark he was back when Miami played Texas A&M. However, the playbook for the running game still lacks creativity, but i’m sure Dawson will get the running game where it needs to be.
  3. Kiko Mauigoa: The Washington State transfer was Miami’s defensive MVP this season, no doubt. Rueben Bain Jr. was awesome and had a few huge games, but Kiko was a much-needed leader and playmaker. He finished today’s game with 9 total tackles, 2 TFLs, and 1 sack. Mauigoa now has 6.5 sacks on the season. That is damn impressive for a middle linebacker. I am excited to see him come back and lead Lance Guidry’s defense again next season. I don’t want to think of what Miami’s defense would’ve looked like without him. Great season for Kiko.
