Three Takeaways Why Miami lost Against Louisville

It was not pretty, Hurricanes lose against the Louisville Cardinals

CanesToday owner and contributor Trinton Breeze will take you to three takeaways from Miami’s loss over Louisville.

Canes were caught sleepwalking

After the trip to Wake Forest and enduring a 40-minute battle in a rowdy environment, it was fair to wonder if the Hurricanes would be “up” to face a Louisville team that’s not even above .500 (5-10 through 15 games). Boosted by the Watsco Center crowd, nobody was accusing the Hurricanes of sleepwalking, notching 41 points in the first period, well that’s what happened.

Louisville just wouldn’t go away

While it never felt like Miami was in danger, Louisville was able to hang around as the Hurricanes could not put the game away until the very end. UM can score in spurts, but with plenty of offensive droughts and the current state of the defense, Miami’s runs don’t quite put the game out of reach.

It’s early in conference play. Ideally, the Hurricanes can move on without worrying about a game that didn’t feel like it was ever truly in doubt, but they would like to get these games out of single-digit differences earlier.

Thank goodness for Matthew Cleveland maybe?

It has been said before, but bears repeating. Miami hit the jackpot when Matthew Cleveland fell into the Canes’ lap during the summer.

Wednesday night, Cleveland scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. It was his third double-double this season. despite losing he scored 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in the tough loss against Wake Forest.

This is a heart breaking I hope we can get back on track.
