Things are winding back down as the day two of the ACC Media Day has been complete today and if you did miss it cause you had work or just slept in which I can completely understand than CanesToday has you guys covered. We will also be on task tomorrow and the rest of the Media Days.

Jim Philips makes funny joke

When Jim Phillips had his moment speaking to the media as he made sure to make the room laugh and funny as he thru a funny shot at the Chicago Cubs series against the Baltimore Orioles.

“It’s good to see you, Josh,” Jim Phillips said. “I just want to say this. Josh is a really big Baltimore Orioles fan and he was like crushing me with a text. He was going to see the Cubs play, Chicago Cubs play at Camden Yards in Baltimore. Cubs aren’t having a great season. The Orioles are certainly having a great season. Then I haven’t heard from him until this morning.”

USF’s Alex Golesh calls out Miami at the AAC Media Days

It might not of been the ACC Media Days however over at the American conference head coach of the USF had some words to say about the Miami Hurricanes.

“Alex Golesh on USF playing Bama and Miami: Bama and Miami have to play South Florida,” Golesh said, per Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times.

USF heads to Tuscaloosa on September 7th as part of the school’s home and home with Alabama. The Crimson Tide came to Tampa last season, nearly being upset by Golesh’s squad.

The Hurricanes head up to there the fourth game of the season.

Cam Ward and DJ Uiagalelei headlines the ACC QB’s

Jim Phillips with is the ACC commissioner was flooded with questions, so in a bit of a strategic PR marketing, the league promoted its Media Days by declaring itself “The Conference of Quarterbacks.”

Here is what Jesse Simmons had to say about Miami of On3.

Among all ACC quarterbacks, Ward has true Heisman Trophy hopes. The former Wazzu transfer stands to be among the most valuable transfers this past cycle. He had 61 touchdowns in two seasons in Pullman, and now he’s surrounded by a much better supporting cast. No quarterback in the league stands to gain more than Ward this fall if he’s able to lead the ‘Canes to their first conference championship and play his way into a Day 1 NFL Draft pick. His style is a hand-glove fit in Shannon Dawson’s Air Raid scheme, so a monster season could be in store.

Simonton also listed FSU’s D.J. Uiagalelei, SMU’s Preston Stone, Louisville’s Tyler Shough, NC State’s Grayson McCall, Clemson’s Cade Klubnik, and Georgia Tech’s Haynes King as other quarterbacks who will determine the ACC race.

ESPN recently debuted their X factors list for every top 25 college team in the country. ESPN defined a x-factor as “one thing [or player] that will carry the greatest weight in determining whether the season will be great, good or a disappointment”. There were a few players that immediately came to mind for Virginia Tech, but here’s what ESPN had to say:

Trinton Breeze
