What the computers are saying about Miami’s next two games

Miami has just stared ACC play last night and Miami won that game against Clemson 95-82 On Wednesday, the Canes travel to Wake Forest for its third ACC game on January 6. Four days later, the Canes come back home to host the Louisville Cardinals.

We’ll have plenty to say about each opponent and matchup as the days go on, but what are the computer models predicting? Here’s where Miami stands in all of them following the 13-point win over Clemson last night.

Let’s see what KenPom are saying about the next three games.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Sat., Jan. 6th, 2:15 p.m. ET, Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum (Winston-Salem, NC), The CW

The Deamon Deacons bring an 10-3 record when Miami will play them on Saturday. Three of those losses, to Georgia, Utah and LSU. Their best player is senior guard Huntter Sallis, who averages 18.4 points per game. He’s scored 61 points combined in the last three games.

If we are being honest Wake Forest is a good-looking team Miami might struggle in this game especially cause SG Wooga Poplar is out, now that was not a problem against Clemson, but Wake Forest plays a whole lot different in their guard spots.

KenPom: Miami 78, Wake Forest 82 (36% chance of victory)
BartTorvik: Miami 79, Wake Forest 80 (47% chance of victory)

Louisville Cardinals

Wednesday., Jan. 10, 7:00 p.m. ET, Watsco Center (Coral Gables, FL), ESPN

Louisville has eight losses thus far in the season, The Cardinals lost to Chattanooga, Texas, Indiana, Virginia Tech, DePaul, Arkansas State, Kentucky, and Virginia. Their best wins are over New Mexico State, and UMBC.

There aren’t many positives when it comes to the Louisville Cardinals. Aside from scoring 25.2% of their points from the free throw line, the 12th most nationally, and being very good on the offensive glass, there isn’t much they can hang their hat on. The struggles continue on the defensive side of the ball for the Louisville Cardinals. Their man-to-man defense provides very little resistance to opponents attacking the basket.

KenPom: Miami 87, Louisville 71 (93% chance of victory)
BartTorvik: Miami 90, Louisville 70 (95% chance of victory)
