Wooga Poplar Earning High Praise from Coach Jim Larranaga

Coach Jim Larranaga had his Monday press conference today, and he gave high praise to Miami Hurricane’s shooting guard Wooga Poplar.

Larranaga was asked a question stating “Coach, Wooga Poplar has been a player that many people seeing him breakout this season can you talk about his developments this summer and what he has look like?” Jim Larranaga states “He’s Fantastic…He’s got this year, and one more but I… I dont know if we are going to hold on to him” “He’s definitely a NBA prospect, we have a ton of NBA people at our practice’s…And all of them are evaluating him into becoming one” Said Coach Jim Larranaga

To add onto all of that, Larrañaga said that Poplar is likely one of the best pull-up jump shooters in the country. Larrañaga talked about how he encouraged Poplar last season to continue to shoot them, and that he tallied 31 points in a recent team scrimmage. If it wasn’t clear already, a Poplar breakout season is among us as he looks to fill in the scoring void left by Isaiah Wong and Jordan Miller going pro.

Poplar was efficient last season, shooting 47 percent from the field on 6.7 field goal attempts per game. He shot 37.5 percent from 3 and 86.7 percent from the free-throw line for a true shooting percentage of 57.7
