Xavier Restrepo will eclipse 1,000 receiving yards

Xavier Restrepo broke the Hurricanes’ all-time single-season record with 85 catches and also achieved 1,092 receiving yards, marking him as the sixth player in Miami history to reach at least 1,000 receiving yards in a season. The previous five players to accomplish this feat were: Charleston Rambo (1,172 yards in 2021), Allen Hurns (1,162 yards in 2013), Leonard Hankerson (1,156 yards in 2010), Andre Johnson (1,092 yards in 2002), and Eddie Brown (1,114 yards in 1984).

With a former no-star quarterback at the helm and now a top-rated quarterback in the country, a more pass-centric offensive philosophy, and two years of experience under his belt, Brown is poised for a breakout season. Of course, unlike the year Charelston Rambo set the record when Rambo was the clear No. 1 receiver, Xavier will have competition for targets, primarily from Jacolby George. However, there should be enough bombs to go around.

2024 will be Restrepo’s fifth with the Hurricanes. He’s steadily improved in each of the previous four, with his best season coming in 2023. All in all, Restrepo has caught 131 passes for 1,717 receiving yards and ten receiving touchdowns.

Xavier Restrepo played high school football at Deerfield Beach (FL), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 645 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Restrepo earned first-team All-ACC in 2023, Only 24 Miami receivers had at least 100 career receptions and nine have had over 2,000 yards.

He’s is the leading receiving for the Canes and is one of the hardest-working players in college football.
